In Europe, there is a mandatory driver training framework that most countries have introduced.
​
It helps to improve the knowledge and skills of thousands.
​
It also helps to create a more harmonised approach to training, and contributes to a reduction in road fatalities.
In most of Africa, Asia and the Americas, there is no mandatory ongoing driver training framework.
​
Without regular training, drivers and other road users are not as safe as they could be.​​​
The One Driver Program will launch later this year.
​
It is a driver training and migration program, designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional drivers through classroom training, and create opportunities for EU migration.
​
Candidates who want to migrate will be tested and evaluated in their home country and given support with visas, permits and employment opportunities. They will also get independent support once they arrive into the EU.
​
EU Employers will get a tested, evaluated professional driver to support their business needs.
